We test business software so you can focus on what matters: running your business. No fluff, no sponsored rankings, no biased recommendations.
ToolScorecard was founded by Jay Fan after years of frustration. As someone who has launched and managed multiple businesses -- from retail operations to service-based companies -- Jay experienced firsthand the pain of choosing the wrong software. Expensive platforms that did too little. Free tools that disappeared without notice. Recommendations from review sites that were clearly paid placements disguised as honest advice.
The breaking point came when Jay realized that finding trustworthy software reviews was nearly impossible. Every review site seemed to rank whoever paid the most, not whoever built the best product. Small business owners were making decisions based on affiliate commissions, not actual experience. That was when ToolScorecard was conceived: a review site that treats readers like real people running real businesses.
Every tool we review goes through our standardized testing process. We sign up for accounts (often paid ones), we configure the software as a real business would, we use it for daily tasks, we test customer support, and we evaluate the uninstall or cancellation process. Our reviews are based on hands-on experience, not spec sheets or press releases.
We maintain strict independence. No company can pay for placement, a higher score, or a positive review. We do not accept sponsored posts, and our affiliate relationships are clearly disclosed on every page. When you read a ToolScorecard review, you are getting the honest assessment of someone who has actually used the product in a real business context.
ToolScorecard is currently a team of one. Jay Fan personally oversees every review, every test, and every piece of content published on this site. Each review cycle involves 80 or more hours of hands-on testing, research, and writing. This means we publish fewer reviews than the big affiliate sites, but every review we do publish is thorough, accurate, and trustworthy.
Jay brings over a decade of business experience across multiple industries. This practical background means the reviews focus on what actually matters to business owners: does this tool save time? Does it integrate with the tools I already use? Is the pricing fair for the value delivered? Will the company be around in five years?
We are committed to transparency in everything we do. Our testing methodology is published in full detail so you can understand exactly how we arrive at our scores. Our affiliate disclosure explains how we make money and how it does -- and does not -- affect our recommendations. If we ever make a mistake in a review, we will correct it publicly and promptly.
ToolScorecard is built for one type of person: the business owner who wants honest, practical advice about the tools their business depends on. If that sounds like you, you are in the right place.
We read every message. If there is a tool you want us to review or an issue with an existing review, let us know.
